Journalism Internship Program
¡@
PURPOSE
To
provide young Taiwanese Americans who have aspiration
for pursuing journalism as their career an opportunity
of internship in a newspaper.
DUTIES
Manage "Youth Forum," the
bi-weekly English page in Pacific Times. Established
in 1987, Pacific Times is a Taiwanese American
weekly newspaper located in Rosemead, California.
Attend and report events in the
community, compile news articles, and prepare
artwork for "Youth Forum."
Attend workshops, seminars, and
field trips arranged by the program.
QUALIFICATION
High school students from grades
10 to 12
Excellence in writing
Familiarity or willingness to
learn software for the artwork and design
APPLICATION PROCESS
To be
considered, please submit the following:
Completed application form.
A typed, double spaced statement
of purpose (400-500 works, Times New Roman, 12 point
font, one inch margin on all sides) describing
yourself, your future goals, your involvement in the
Taiwanese American community, and why you are
interested in the program.
One letter of recommendation.
A copy of your most recent
transcript.
DEADLINE
The
completed application package must be received by April
15, 2010. Please mail the application package to:

DURATION
From September to
August in the following year for a total of 12 months.
